Weber Recipes
The Weber Q BBQ is so well designed that it makes it possible to use the Weber to cook regular meals. There are some great Weber Q Recipes available and it is quick to set up so can be used all week.
Traditionally a BBQ has been a special event at the weekend when you have plenty of time to prepare food and coals. With a traditional BBQ you need to light a fire and wait around and hour until the flame dies so you can cook on the hot coals. This can be a lot of fun and a great summer day spent with the family, but it is certainly not quick or convenient.
REGULAR GRILL NIGHTS
With our Weber Q we are able to use it to grill almost every night. In the summer we eat outdoors often and the veriety of meals we can grill is vast. Grilled fish is very good on a Weber Q, it is moist and falls off the bone, try gutting a whole seabass and grilling with fresh vegetable and a little lemon juice. I also often grill pepper and mustard T bone steak with mushrooms and tomatoes and serve with fries and salad. Grilled corn and peppers are also very good with most meals.
My all time favourite Weber Q recipe, which we cook at least once per week is BBQ Chicken. It is easy to prepare, doesn't take too long on the grill and tastes amazing.
BBQ CHICKEN RECIPE
Serves 3-4 people.
Ingredients
1 Whole Chicken – Freshness is key to good chicken. Avoid chicken that has been frozen and avoid chickens that have added water to plump them up. The chicken need to be cut into 8 pieces. If you are not comfortable with this ask a butcher to do it when you buy it.
1 Clove of fresh crushed garlic
A good splash of dark soy sauce
2 table spoons of honey
3 table spoons of orange preserve
A good splash of sesame oil
Grated zest of half an orange
1 table spoon of fresh ginger peel and chopped finely.
1 table spoon of Chinese five spice
To prepare, mix the marinade ingredients in a large bowl. Slash each portion of chicken a few times with your sharpest knife. This allows the flavours to penetrate the meat instead of just the skin.
Marinade for two hours at least. If you can, leave the chicken overnight to marinade in the fridge. Turn the meat in the marinade often.
Grill the chicken on a medium heat until the internal temporature reaches 165 degrees F. It is best to use a meat thermometer to ensure that you don't under cook or dry out the chicken by overcooking.
If you don't have a meat thermometer pierce the chicken and ensure that the juices run clear. A good guide time is around 20 minutes on the grill. For the first ten minutes you should spoon the remaining marinade over the chicken to add extra flavour. Don't do this after the first 10 minutes as the marinade will contain raw chicken juices.
Serve up with fresh grilled vegetables and potatoes wedges with a sour cream dip. Weber Q Recipes are an excellent way to bring the family together for meal times and become an import part of a great summer lifestyle.
